Your Personal Guide to the World of Tea

"Meanwhile, let us have a sip of tea. The afternoon glow is brightening the bamboos, the fountains are bubbling with delight, the soughing of the pines is heard in our kettle. Let us dream of evanescence, and linger in the beautiful foolishness of things."

--Kakuzo Okakura

Aside from water, it is the world's most popular beverage. But it's also much more than just a drink. For those of us who are true lovers of the leaf, it is a sacrament. Whether we take half an hour in the afternoon to enjoy a cup of delicate Earl Grey, or sit in the garden all day long sipping Oolong and reading poetry, tea connects us to a sense of inner peace.

It allows us to create a space in the midst of our busy lives, a space for reflection, and appreciation of the things that really matter. Whether we drink it alone or share it with good friends and family, this ancient infusion is the perfect antidote to the often hectic pace of our day-to-day world.

I have been a serious student of the way of tea for over eight years. For me, as for countless others throughout the centuries, what began as a healthful and pleasant drink has become an art, a philosophy, a way of life, and even a way to enlightenment, as well as a deep source of pleasure and inspiration.

There are thousands of tea-related sites on the internet, but most of them are owned by major companies intent on selling you their products. This site, however, is not affiliated with any of those companies. Here, I will serve as your independent and unbiased guide to the world of this wonderful beverage.

I will show you how to find, prepare, and enjoy the world's finest leaves, and together we will explore the varieties, brewing procedures, history, culture, and health benefits of this fascinating drink. You'll also learn about hosting parties, reading the leaves for entertainment and insight, and many other subjects.
